Margaret Ann (Weitzel) Collins

Margaret A. Collins, 92, of Torrington, CT, formerly of Colebrook, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 11th, at her home. Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on December 8, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Orville Weitzel of Missouri and Ann Webb of Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband George who died in 2009 and her brother Webb Weitzel of Tennessee.

Margaret is survived by three children, Diane Wright, of Torrington; Candace Abbamondi and husband James of Torrington, and a son, Stephen Collins and wife Donna of East Hartland; 7 grandchildren, Heather Ann Wright of Saco ME.,Eric Wright of Torrington, Christopher Abbamondi and wife Joanne of Middletown, Justin Abbamondi of Torrington, Martin Abbamondi and his wife Cynthia of Harwinton, Michael Collins and wife Sara of Bemidji Minn.,and Brian Collins of East Hartland, and a great granddaughter Aliza Rose Abbamondi of Harwinton.

In her younger years, Margaret enjoyed canoeing and hiking, some travel, writing, reading, and collecting old bottles, and gardening. She and her stories of her Southern upbringing will be missed.

Burial will be at Eno Hill Cemetery in Colebrook at the convenience of the family.
