Laurette (Bousquet) Parent

Laurette Parent of Torrington, passed away on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at the age of 97. She was the wife of the late Yvon Parent. Born on May 31st, 1921 in St. Pié, Quebec, she was the daughter of Albert and Alice Bousquet. Her family relocated to Richford, Vermont in 1937. Laurette got married in 1940 in Richford where she and her husband ran a dairy farm until 1966 when they moved to Torrington. Laurette worked at Turner and Seymour Manufacturing for twenty years and retired in 1986.

Laurette’s life was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing baker and was known for her delicious blueberry desserts and meat pies. Laurette loved to cook and would make wonderful meals for every Sunday dinner. She also took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens, whose blooms would bring amazement to everyone that saw them.

Laurette leaves behind her six children – Real Parent (Helen) W Burke, VT, Pierrette Duso, Essex, VT, Alan Parent (Denise) Lyndonville, VT, Louise Dwan (William) Northfield, CT, Denise Gyurko (Joseph) Torrington, CT, and Patricia Bertoldi (Marshall) Torrington, CT, and beloved granddaughter Bridget, Tallahassee, FL, along with seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Laurette was predeceased by her brother John Paul Bousquet and also leaves two sisters, Reine Parent of Granby, Canada and Bernadatte Larose of Richford, VT, and two sisters in law, Louis Bousquet of W Townshend, VT and Georgette Theriault of Cowansville, Canada.

There will be no calling hours. There will be a Mass celebrating Laurette’s life at St. Francis of Assisi Church (160 Main St, Torrington) on Monday, April 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. www.phalenfuneral.com
