Joseph R "Bob" Bozenski, 97, of Torrington, CT, passed away Friday, February 2nd, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Bozenski who died in 2000.
Joseph was born in Torrington , on January 1, 1921, a life long resident. He served in the US Navy in WWII on the battleship USS New York in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, participating in the battle of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Returning to Torrington he joined the Torrington Fire Department and served for 36 years, retiring in 1982 as Deputy Chief. He also served in the Boston Army Base in 1957 in charge of fire protection and prevention at Nike Missile Sites constructed throughout New England.
He is survived by daughters Debra Bozenski of Torrington and Lynn Ryan and husband Michael of Simsbury, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday Feb. 9 at 1:30 PM at the Chapel at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at Phalen Funeral Home prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM
