Jennie (Kunicki) Solywoda

Jennie Solywoda, 80,Torrington, died peacefully Saturday, November 17th, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Solywoda. A lifelong Torrington resident, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Stella (Zulaski) Kunicki. She was a member of Saint Mary Church and attended Torrington Schools and was a retiree of the Torrington Company with over 30 years of service. She loved Our Lord and was an excellent cook, enjoying knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a devoted wife, and loved her family and two precious granddaughters. She spent many summers admiring the beauty of Cape Cod seashore. She traveled to Poland in 1987 to see Pope John Paul 11 with her late sister Stella Kunicki. Left to mourn her passing is daughter Laura Sherwood and husband Gary, granddaughters Heather and Rebecca Sherwood, a sister Josephine Banasik, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Stanley and John Kunicki and sisters Stella Kunicki, Anna Zak, Helen Hyber, Wanda Strzeszkowski, nephews Richard Banasik and Gerald Zak and niece Theresa Moore

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday Nov 20 at 11 AM at Saint Francis Church. Burial will follow at St Peter Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 9:30-10:30 at Phalen Funeral Home.
