Irene (Daley) Columbia

 Irene Columbia, 96, of  West Haven, formerly of Torrington, passed away Friday, October 11th, at Milford Hospital,  She was the wife of the late Francis L. Columbia.

Irene was born in Torrington, CT on August 30, 1923, a daughter of the late Lena (Miller) and John  Daley.

She was employed by the Torrington Company,  and after retirement she worked for Stop & Shop for 11 years.  She loved to garden and was an accomplished embroiderer.

She leaves two daughters,  Catherine Fasulo and husband Kurt Fasulo Sr. of Milford, and Janice Polomski  of Torrington.  Also surviving are grandchildren Domenic Maritano and wife Tina,  Kurt Fasulo Jr and wife Kara,  Adam Fasulo and wife Annie,  Ashley Fasulo,  and Jamie Pappacoda,  and 5 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son,  Francis David Columbia,  son in law Ron Polomski,  and 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 18th at Saint Francis Church in Torrington.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.  Friends may call 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, October 18th at Phalen Funeral Home .
