Obituary – Harriet Peyser

Harriet Peyser, of Torrington, beloved wife of Marvin Peyser passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017. Harriet and Marvin celebrated their 62nd Anniversary this past year. Harriet was a member of the Beth El Synagogue for 52 years. She served as President of the Beth El Sisterhood and received the Woman of Valor Award from the Torrington Hadassah. Well-loved by children, Harriet was a Lunch Aide and Playground Monitor for 21 years at the East School, as well as a volunteer reader. One time, she talked a child off the edge of the school’s roof when the child would not respond to police or anyone else.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Shirley Sokolow; her daughter, Randy of Pinole, California, and her son, Ted and daughter-in-law Terry of Atlanta, Georgia; as well as her grandchildren Rachel, Natasha, Sam, Ari, Yossi and Eitan; two great grandchildren, Reuven and Reena; nieces, Terry, Beth, Robin and Tammy; and cousin, Bob.

Funeral is Tuesday, July 25, 2pm at the Torrington Sons of Jacob Cemetery. Calling hours at the Peyser’s home are 7-9pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week
