Eleanor (Washington) Batky

Eleanor Batky, 71, of Torrington, CT, passed away Saturday, June 17th, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of 47 years of Robert Batky.

Eleanor was born in North Canaan, CT on May 11, 1946, a daughter of the late Irene (Maxwell) and George Washington. She operated a Home day Care for many years. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, creating stuffed animals and Teddy Bears and was noted for her "Memory Bears" helping grieving families.

In additon to her husband, she leaves a son Scott Batky and daughter Terri Batky, and granddaughter Ashlee McLaughlin. She also leaves sisters Mary Kantor, Barbara Sherwin and husband Chuck, and Cheryl Washington as well as brothers George Washington and wife Debbie,, Alvin Washington and wife Kim, Ronald Washington and wife Norma, and Brent Washington. She was predeceased by a sister Martha Namey and brothers John, Robert, and James Washington.
