Dr George Henry Rubin

Dr. George Henry Rubin, 72, of Norfolk, CT passed away peacefully in his home on November 27th.

            Born to Janet and Oscar Rubin on November 24th, 1947, he was the youngest of three boys; predeceased by Roy, and survived by Bruce. George graduated from The Bronx High School of Science, Class of 1965, and The Columbia University of Physicians and Surgeons, Class of 1973. He was voted as the Top Orthopedic Surgeon in the state of Connecticut multiple times.

            He is survived by his wife, Donna, their children, Michael, Katelyn, and Jenna Rubin, and Joseph Boyle, his step children, Robert and Michelle Kandefer, and his three granddaughters.

            While he was a dedicated orthopedic surgeon, he was also a breeder of Arabian racehorses and Champion Great Danes. He enjoyed working with stained glass, spending time with his family, and driving around his 24 acre horse farm on his Gator.

            George was always quick to respond with wit and not-so-much with grace; he was clever with his comebacks, as anyone who knew him could attest. Although his hand was steady in the operating room, he found it very difficult to contain his excitement around a good deal at the grocery store. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday  Nov. 30 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington.
