Denise Marie Everett

Denise Marie Everett,  67, of Harwinton,  passed away peacefully on June 6 2018.  Born May 23 , 1951, daughter of Adele and George Everett Denise was the beloved wife of Donald A. Smith Jr. They celebrated 13 years of marriage together. She will be remembered for her kindness and her willingness to help out anyone in any way if she could.

Denise was born in Michigan and her family moved to Connecticut in the mid 1960’s. She graduated from Lewis S. Mills High Regional High School in 1969 and went on to attend the University of Hawaii. She most recently worked for Rotundo Precast for many years as a draftsperson but had many jobs over her life: business woman, dance studio owner and instructor and restaurant hostess and bartender.

Denise loved to travel and visited many countries in Europe and Asia. She loved the ocean and to spend time on Cape Cod with friends and family. She loved to dance and listen to music and was always up to make every occasion a party.

Survivors include: her husband, Donald A. Smith Jr.; sister Diane (and husband, Donald) Wescott of Gorham, Maine; and brothers Kyle (and wife, Thelma) Everett of Burlington; Robert (and wife, Lisa) Everett of Burlington; Michael Everett of Las Vegas, Nevada; Terry Everett of New Orleans, Louisiana; and George Everett of Fort Worth, Texas. She also will be missed by her niece Martha (and husband Jerry) Farnham of Gorham, Maine and nephew Matthew (and wife Erin) Burr of Gorham, Maine. Martha's children, Tessa and Leighton, and Matthew's children, Logan, Isaac, Silas, and Sadie knew it would be fun when Denise was visiting. She is also survived by mother and father in-laws Doris and Donald Smith of Harwinton, sister-in-law Nancy Hendrix of Los Gatos, California and niece Alison Hendrix of San Jose California. Her special friend Ron Schames of New Hartford was devoted to Denise. She was pre-deceased by her brother Rick Everett, and her parents, George and Adele Everett.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday June 13 at 6:00 PM at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington CT. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Harwinton Ambulance Association.
