Clayton F Deming Sr.

Clayton F Deming, Sr, 90, of Torrington, CT, passed away Friday, July 28th, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ruth Yarocki Deming.

Clayton was born in Torrington, CT on August 6, 1926, a son of the late Ruth (Soule) and Arthur Deming. He attended Torrington High and OWTS, and served in the US Marine Corp. 1st Marine Division during WWII, a participant in the Battle of Okinawa.

He was a self employed carpenter, building many homes in Torrington.

A lifetime member First Congregational Church in Torrington, he served as their Scout Leader for Boy Scout Troop 23. He was also a member of The Marine Corp League.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Pavlik and husband Blair, and Beth Denis Podhajecki and husband Stephen, and two sons, Clayton F. Deming Jr. and wife Brenda, and Bruce Deming and wife Diane. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Arthur Deming III and Mason Deming, and sisters Olive Ferry, Almira Wheeler, and Helen Young

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, August 5th at First Congregational Church . Friends may call 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 5th at Phalen Funeral Home.
