Charles L Hilton, 85, of Torrington, CT, passed to his Eternal Home Friday, May 31st, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Dayhoff Hilton.
Charles was born in Aniston, AL on March 21, 1934, a son of the late Eloise (Collins) and James Hilton and served in the US Army as a Corporal, 461stBN, Heavy Mortars A Company from 1950-1952 during the Korean War.
He had worked for the Torrington Company and later for Patterson Oil Company in Torrington as a truck driver before his retirement.
He was a longtime member of Saint Paul's Church and was active with Torringford Volunteer Fire Dept, serving as Captain and Fire Instructor. He was also a member of the VFW Honor Guard for several years and was a member of Torrington Lodge of Elks.
In addition to his wife he leaves a son David Hilton and wife Virginia of Rocky Hill and their children James, Nancy, and Charles; daughters Deborah Canino and husband Sal of Torrington and their children Joseph, Nicholas, and Olivia; and Nancy Gregoire and husband Robert of White Marsh MD and children Megan and Kayla.
He also leaves a brother Robert Hilton and sister Donna Stewart of AL and was predeceased by brothers James and Thomas.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 6th at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church 837 Charles St in Torrington, CT.
Friends may call prior to the Service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Church .
