Antonette "Toni" (Alfano) Marchetti

Antonette "Toni" Marchetti, 92, of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Wolcott Hall. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Chester P. "Chet" Marchetti, who passed in 2001. The only daughter of the late Elvira (Pelligrini) and Patsy Alfano, Sr., Toni was born on July 31, 1926. She graduated from Torrington High School and attended St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing, in Waterbury, CT. She married her high school sweetheart in 1947, and together they raised 5 children. She was an advocate for persons with disabilities and both she and Chet were active members in LARC (Litchfield Association for Retarded Citizens). Toni was an accomplished cook, who also baked daily and her homemade ravioli were famous with the family. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver and a lover of language and words. As such, conversations with her were often lively and direct, as she had a sharp wit and tongue! She and her husband loved to travel and took many excursions, with cruises, Cape Cod and Italy being among her favorites. She loved shopping, collecting jewelry, dolls and quilts. She also loved UCONN men’s and women’s basketball, and was the proud owner of a signed Ray Allen basketball. Toni will always be remembered for her dignity, integrity and great love for her family and friends.

Toni is survived by her sons Dennis, Dean and wife Anne and Drew and wife Susan; her daughters, Donna Fador and husband Ken and Dana Kupec. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ray and Fred and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Toni was predeceased by her brothers Patsy, Steve, Al and Bobby.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at 9:30 am at Saint John Paul the Great (St. Peter Church) 107 East Main Street, Torrington, CT. Per Toni’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
