Alice C. Werner, 96, of Torrington, CT, passed away Thursday, December 12th. She was the wife of the late Ellsworth "Bud" Werner. Alice was born in Torrington on February 4, 1923, a daughter of the late Etta (Connolly) and Patrick Casey. Alice had worked as a dental assistant before and in the early years of her marriage. After her children were in school, she volunteered in the library of St. Francis School where she also devoted time to other volunteer activities including helping to raise funds for the new elementary school building in the 1960's. Alice was involved in her younger years with the Torrington Junior Women's Club and later with the Torrington Women's Club where she served as an officer and helped carry out many civic
projects. Alice closely followed fashion and was always beautifully dressed. She played the piano, was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and watching her favorite movies and TV shows. She enjoyed vacations and traveling with her husband, family and close friends. She had many dear lifelong friends, all of whom predeceased her. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and one great grandchild who were the loves of her life.
She is survived by her daughter Christine Ward and husband Jay of Troy NY, son William E. Werner of Boston, and daughter Jane Steele and husband John of New Hartford She also leaves grandchildren Brendan Ward, wife MaryAnn and great granddaughter Sienna of Manhattan, Eric Steele and
significant other Evelyn O'Connor of Nashua, NH, and Alexander T. Steele and fiance Michelle Hoang of Plainville. She was predeceased by sister Helen Archambeault and brother William Casey.
