Gerald Richardson Obituary

Gerald V. Richardson, 82,of Torrington passed away surrounded by his family Feb. 22, 2024 at his home.  He was the husband of Sharon Deane Richardson.  Born in Torrington Dec. 30, 1941, son of the late Clarence and Olive Hewitt Richardson, he served in the US Marine Corps.  He was employed as a truck driver for the local Teamsters and was recipient of their Million Mile Safety Award.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed snowmobiling and quad riding. antique tractor pulls and loved to farm. He was a UCONN men and women's sports fan as well as the NY Yankees. His greatest joy was being "papa" to his grandchildren and great grandson.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son Gerald Richardson Jr., and daughter Kathy Williams and husband Wayne, and grandchildren Heather Cianci and husband Derrick, Danielle Williams, Zackary, Tyler, and Evan Richardson, and great grandson Colton Cianci.  Also surviving are sisters Margaret Beary, Norah Hodge and husband Lee, and Mavis Richardson.  He was predeceased by brothers Kenneth and Clarence (Doug) Richardson and sisters Laurie Lane and Eileen Bartram.

 The family extends sincere thanks to Hospice Nurses Tamara and Denise for their care.

The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday March 2 at from 9-11 AM at Phalen Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions can be made to a Charity of the donor's choice.  www.phalenfuneral.com
