Daniel A. Santoro Sr. 88, of Torrington, CT died Sunday, February 5th, at Wolcott Hall. He was the husband of Phoebe (LaMere) Santoro.
Daniel was born in Torrington, CT on January 19, 1924, a son of the late Anna (Colangelo) and Vito Santoro. He served in the US Army in WW II and was retired from The Torrington Co. and Howmet Mfg.
He was an avid gardener.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Kathleen Bequary, and husband Alex of Prospect; Margaret Bouchard and husband Rick of Farmington and Lucille Lee and husband Darryl of Watertown as well as a son Daniel A Santoro Jr., of Torrington, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Daniel is also survived by a brother, Nicholas Santoro and wife Elsie, several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by sister Carmella " Molly" Marchell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Peter Church, Torrington, CT, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 8th, with burial following at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 9:30-10:30. at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington.

Kenneth Alan Flugrad, 53, of Harwinton,
Kenneth Alan Flugrad, 53, of Harwinton, beloved husband of Michele (Stolfi) and devoted father of Rebecca, Samantha, and Ken Jr., was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday Feb. 2, 2012 following a courageous 6 month battle with cancer. The youngest son of Faith (Mercuri) and the late Charles Flugrad, he grew up in Plantsville section of Southington. After working for Pratt and Whitney for several years, Ken retrained to the waste water treatment field, and was most recently employed by the City of Torrington. He was proud of his time at the Torrington Water Pollution Control Authority and considered it a privilege to work with his colleagues there. Ken's greatest joy was spending time with his children , whom he adored. he took great pride in teaching them about nature and animals, and also actively supported and was involved with his son's commitment to scouting. Ken had a great sense of humor and some of his favorite activities were filling the wood shed, hiking, biking, building, canoeing, being on his tractor, and a good beer once in a while.........he loved life.
In addition to his wife, children, and mother, he leaves his brothers and sisters in law, Russell and Christine Flugrad, Charles and Carol Flugrad, mother and father in law Peter and Anna Stolfi, all of Southington and brother and sister in law Dennis and Cheryl Donovan of Watertown and Robert and Tamara Stolfi of Raymond ME and he will be deeply missed by aunts Madelyn and Violet Mercuri, his niece and nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service Saturday Feb. 11 at 9:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church 342 Prospect St Torrington. Jean M. George, 74, of Torrington, Jean M. George, 74, of Torrington, CT died Sunday, January 29th, at her home. She was the wife of the late Marshall E George.
Jean was born in Torrington, CT on April 29, 1937, daughter of the late Margaret( Slahtovsky) and Paul Skutt. She was a member of Saint Maron Church
She spent her life making a loving home for her family, always her first priority. She was a fighter, protector and nurturer. She was the bravest person we ever knew, and through it all, the sight of her beautiful smile made everything all worthwhile
She is survived by a son, Richard George and wife Katherine, and daughter , Wendy Lemieux and husband Gregory of Torrington and grandchildren Michael, Jamie, and Steven Lemieux. She also leaves two sisters, Barbara Monroe and Mary Swanson, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers William and Paul (Sonny) Skutt and twin sister Joan Jasmin and sister Rita Skutt.
The Liturgy of the Divine Resurrection will be held at Saint Maron Church at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 2nd, with burial following at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington
