Velika (Scharinger) Kennedy

Velika Scharinger Kennedy , 83 , of Harwinton died peacefully June 16 , 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was the wife of the late Frederick A. Kennedy who died in 1987. Born in Sofia , Bulgaria Oct. 17, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Karol and Kusena Mileff Scharinger . After arriving in  the United States in 1951 , she moved to the Torrington area. She was  employed at the Torrington Company's Needle Division and later at  Mark Industries before her retirement. She enjoyed cooking , gardening , spending time with her  family , friends and pets.

She is survived by four children , Frederick K. and wife Laurie Kennedy  of Shavertown PA ,  Richard  and wife Susan Kennedy of Winchester , Patricia Hardy and  husband James of Torrington , Theodore and wife Tara Kennedy of Torrington.
  She is also survived by grandchildren  Rebecca , James ,  Phoenix , Colby , Heather , Britney  along with several great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation  to those who have offered kindness ,support and comfort during this difficult time.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday June 22 at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church 835 Riverside Ave Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside
