Ronald Jean Barrante Sr.

Ronald Jean Barrante Sr. AKA "Poppy", of Torrington passed away Thusday January 11th. Born in the Great Depression, his 85 years of life reflect the hard work and dedication of a remarkable human being. Graduating from Torrington High School in 1950, he joined the Army during the Korean War and served in Germany as a typist. He returned to Torrington to marry Elizabeth Agnes Murphy and take over the family dry-cleaning business, Barrante's Cleaners. He helped create and provide for four children, Ronald J, Barrante Jr., Jay Barrante, Mara Jones, and Diane Ratcliffe. He was a friend to his nine grandchildren and holds a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. A jewelry enthusiast, car fanatic, traveler, and history buff, he had an unbelievable amount of love for his hobbies, his country, and most of all, his family.
