Richard Lesniewski, 65 of Litchfield
Richard Lesniewski, 65 of Litchfield entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 16th, 2011 in Colebrook, CT doing what he loved best -- enjoying the outdoors and the magnificence of God's creation. Rich's greatest and most treasured love was his family. Beloved husband, father, Poppy, brother, and faithful friend to many, Rich leaves a wonderful legacy to all who knew him and loved him.
Richard is survived by his wife, MaryEllen (McGevna) Lesniewski; his son, Robert Lesniewski and his wife Shannon of Harwinton, his son Robert McGevna and wife, Jennifer of Barkhamsted and his daughter Jodi McKay and husband Tom of Barkhamsted. He will especially be missed by all his beautiful grandchildren: Brighton, Seamus & Declan McGevna, Makaela, Austin & Tori Lesniewski & Gabrielle McKay. He also leaves behind his brother, Victor Lesniewski and his wife, Jolene; his sister, Roberta Davis and her husband Gregg and his nieces and nephews-Kelly & Patrick Walsh, Victor Lesniewski, Kyle & Brittney LaBonte, Eric & Kerry McGevna, Colleen Lopez, Sean & Matthew McGevna.
Rich lived for his time with family and friends and the great outdoors: hunting, fishing, grilling, and playing with the pups (Reilly & Finnegan)
Richard worked for UPS for 31 yrs before retiring and then worked part time for Northwestern CT Transit bus company for the past 5yrs, driving the Litchfield bus.
Richard was a proud member of the Torrington Elks lodge, The American Legion Morgan Weir Post in Litchfield and The Harwinton Rod & Gun club. He served proudly in the United States Army as a communications tech during Vietnam from 1966 - 1968. During that time he was awarded the national defense service medal, The Vietnam campaign medal and The Vietnam service medal.
Richard was adored and loved by so many and will truly be missed.
