Raymond "Brooklyn" Colangelo
January 13, 1941 ~ February 11, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years OldRaymond “Brooklyn” Colangelo was born on January 13, 1941, and passed away on Thursday, February 11th with his loving wife Gail Colangelo at his side. Brook and Gail were the proprietors of Dick’s Restaurant in Torrington, CT for 43 years. After retirement, he continued his devotion to the community and his friends as the permittee and beloved bartender of the Germania Club.
Brook was married to Gail Yurgalevicz for 48 years and was the proud father of Brook Colangelo and Tina Roy. In addition, Brook had two sons in-law Keith Whelan and Mark Roy and was also blessed with three incredible grandchildren. Brook was predeceased by his brothers Vito and Carmen Colangelo, and is survived by siblings Anthony, Joseph, Andrew, Dennis Colangelo and Linda Ferris. Brook leaves behind many devoted nieces and nephews.
As a proud Torrington native and devout Roman Catholic, Brook celebrated life and lived it to the fullest - his way. Brook was committed to giving back to the city of Torrington. In 1977, he was a founding member of the Dick’s Restaurant Scholarship Fund, which allowed over 100 students to afford to go to college.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday Feb. 15 at 10:30 at Saint Peter’s Church 117 EastMain St. Torrington CT. There are no calling hours.
