On January 23, 2018, Joan Catherine (Spiess) (Pagano) Palmer, 80, lost her battle with many illnesses including diabetes and kidney disease. She fought hard and courageously until the end.
Joan was born in Torrington, CT to the late Raymond A. and Catherine (Sweeney) Spiess . She was a communicate of St. Peter’s Church. She worked as a bus driver of a special van and worker for CT DMR for many years. Joan was dedicated to her family and took care of a sister with special needs for some years. She enjoyed camping and bringing her grandchildren seasonal camping or on other trips. In her later years, Joan kept busy doing word searches, reading the newspapers and watching her “special programs” on T.V. The “Cooking Shows” were one of her favorite type of program to watch. Joan enjoyed going shopping with her sisters and friends and visiting with her sons. Having Sunday meals with her family and her pet “Molly” were also very special to her.
Joan is survived by two sons, Robert Pagano and David Pagano and wife Julie, both of Torrington. She leaves behind a sister, Bertha Spiess and a brother, Robert Spiess. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great -grandchildren. Joan was pre-deceased by a son, Tony Pagano Jr., a brother Raymond Spiess, and sisters Shirley Brighenti and Jeannette Kulinski. Joan will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Services and burial will be private.
