Howard William Ross

Howard William (Bill) Ross, 87, of Torrington, CT, passed away Sunday, February 25th, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital,after a long illness. He was the husband of Gretchen (Mueller) Ross.

Howard was born in Torrington on May 23, 1930, a son of the late Helen (Sedlack) and John Ross. As a young boy, he and his brother had a tremendous work ethic, starting a shoeshine business for themselves. He worked at Roma Importing and Fitzgerald Manufacturing Co, and then started his own business, The Spaghetti House. He ended his working career at the Berkshire Cafe where he was well known to have "spectacular remembrance" of all kinds of sports issues

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter Diane Addison; step daughter Patricia Ross and 4 stepchildren: Robin Rylander; Valerie Bennett; Robert Longhi; and Patrick Longhi; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by wife Rosemary Vitarella, son Bill Ross, sister Anna Milano, and brothers John, Charles, Frank, Steven, Alfred, and Arthur Ross. The family would like to thank the staff of Litchfield Woods as well as Charlotte Hungerford Hospital 4th floor for the fine and compassionate care given to this exceptional man.

Funeral Services will be held Friday March 2 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church 21 Fern Dr Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
