Doris Scoville Roberge Berry died Saturday February 13th at the River Ridge Assisted Living Facility in
Avon, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Torrington February 10, 1919 to John W. Scoville and Ruth Brothwell Scoville.
She was 97 years old. Doris was a lifelong Torrington resident and member of the First United
Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees most of her life. A Torrington High
School and Business School graduate, Doris worked at Metropolitan Life early in her career, then
at the NW YMCA in the 50's and the Torrington tax office in the 60's. She also ran as a candidate for City Council.  During her later life career she served three zoning commissions for Torrington, New Hartford and Harwinton, before retiring at 72.
Doris was married to the late Paul A. Roberge in 1941 and is survived by her son and daughter in law,
Kenneth and Carolyn Roberge, and by her daughter Jan Lyon. She also leaves behind three
grandchildren Ethan Roberge, JennyKate and Sara-Mika Lyon and one great grandchild, Zachery Lyon.
She is predeceased by her brother Alvin Scoville and sister Verna Scoville Allyn.
Doris was a member of the Torrington Junior Women's Club, the Order of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed reading and watching UConn women's basketball, knitting, following the
news, cooking, and giving thoughtful gifts. She had a great love of children and through them
demonstrated a universal love for individual differences and diversity.
The family wishes to thank the staff at River Ridge and John Dempsey Hospital and Hartford Healthcare Independence at Home for their dedicated assistance and responsive care.
Donations can be made to the Book of Remembrance of the First United Methodist Church or the
American Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life will be held Sat. June 4, 3 PM at First United Methodist Church in Torrington,  with a reception following.
