David Derby

David Derby, 76, of Torrington  passed away  Tuesday July 19th, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Kathryn Roode Derby.

David was born in Mamaronek, NY on April 9, 1940, a son of the late Dorothy and Harvey Derby. He was a retired contractor for Eversource, and had previously worked for Saturn/GM and over 40 years as a certified HVAC Tech and Service Manager and HVAC  instructor at Porter and Chester in Waterbury. He also had been an officer at Lincoln First Bank in Rochester NY.

He enjoyed painting and was a car and motorcycle enthusiast, an animal lover and  sports fan, especially the New England Patriots.

In addition to his wife, he leaves daughters Heather G. Tomassetti and husband Anthony, Hillary B. Schiff, Tracy A. Ralston-Barone and husband Jim, and Jessica E. Chernak and husband Nick. He also leaves grandchildren Samantha Slater and husband Cole and Mark Tomassetti. He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Signore

The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday July 30th from10-Noon at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. Memorial Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
