Brent M Lafferty

Brent Matthew Lafferty, 59, passed away suddenly, Saturday, April 14th due to ongoing health issues stemming from a traumatic fall he suffered last year. He leaves behind his life long love and wife Kathy Shafer Lafferty who he married shortly after high school. He also leaves behind his son Brent E. Lafferty, daughter in law, Taylor, and grandchildren Rhys, Savannah, and Avery.  He is also survived by his brother and friend Craig Lafferty.  He was predeceased and reunited with his beloved son, Sean Tyler Lafferty and parents Leo and Dorothy (Dorgeloh) Lafferty.
Brent was the president of Lafferty Enterprises Inc, / Harwinton Paving which he started in 1985 with a lawn mower. His tireless and grand work ethic turned his company into a successful and reputable family business where employees became valuable friends. That legacy will continue on and grow with Brent Jr. due to his father's endless efforts and teachings.
Brent was known for his large scale dreams and ideas which he would always ultimately achieve. His generosity, knowledge, and friendship were second to none. He was a man of few words, but he abundantly affected the lives of many. Whether he gave you a meal, a career, or an education on life, your life was better because of him. His heart was grand.
Brent was a proud member of the Germania Club in Torrington where he had many meaningful friendships. He enjoyed working, remodeling his lake house, and feeding his grandchildren ice cream and Cheetos. Most of all, He loved being with his wife, going to concerts, traveling, or just being together.  They were each other's strength and comfort for 41+ years. 
The world is now off with out him here. We have lost a truly one of a kind man. One comforting fact is that the road to heaven is now paved by the best and it will be strong and last for all of us who follow, because Brent always followed through and did the job right.
Calling hours are Saturday, April 21st from 9-11am with a service to follow at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington. Burial will follow at West Cemetery in Harwinton In lieu of flowers, please continue their work in honor of their son Sean and donate to The McCall Center for Behavioral Health in Torrington. www.mccallcenterct.org
