Alfred Huttig born March 26, 1940 in Danbury, CT to parents Alfred Huttig and Dora Huttig (Schmidt) died May 1, 2017 with family by his side. He attended University of Bridgeport and Danbury State College where he earned a degree in physics and education. There he met the most amazing woman who brought out his best side. He married Mabelle (Bonnie) McMullen and raised three daughters. He is survived by daughters Keirsten Huttig Williams and her husband Philip, Gretchen Bagley and her husband Ken, and Jessica Huttig; his grandchildren Kayleigh, Matthew, Ryan, Amelia, and Natalie; and his sister Margaret Komlo. While running his own business as an electrician, he taught physics at Henry Abbott and then became an electrical shop teacher and department head at Oliver Wolcott Technical School. He was passionate about politics and had served on the Republican town committee, town zoning board, Goshen Agricultural Society, and Goshen Volunteer Fire Company. As a Freemason, he was past master of Blazing Star Lodge #74 in Cornwall, CT and a current member of Montgomery Lodge #13 in Lakeville, CT. Alfred served as a past District Deputy for the Masonic District 2A.  He was also a Shriner and active member of the Sphinx Shrine in Newington.  Alfred loved his hobbies which included farming, tinkering, woodworking, inventing, antique machinery, music, model airplanes, old cars, and anything and everything to do with trains. Friends and relatives may call at Phalen Funeral home from 5 to 7 pm on May 19, 2017. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Goshen Fire Company Inc., P.O. Box 193, Goshen, CT 06756.
